Our Goals

We believe in reproductive freedom and that every woman regardless of race, ethnicity or socioeconomic status should have has access to quality healthcare, accurate information and the right to choose the care that is right for her. We do not accept any federal, state or local rollbacks, cuts or restrictions on our ability to access quality reproductive healthcare services, birth control, HIV/AIDS and STI care and prevention, or medically accurate sexuality education. We engage, collaborate and partner with local, state and national organizations leading these effort to support them and advocate for these issues. No longer are we going to stand on the sidelines while legislators make our decisions, instead we fight. Be Part Of Our Team By Emailing Us! #ReproductiveRights

Our Favorite Books & Movies

Throughout history, women’s reproductive health has been very low on the list of public concern. That still woefully holds true today. From the risks of limited birth control access to fearing the worst rate of maternal deaths in the developed world, American women face unreasonable hazards when it comes to their reproductive healthcare. The fact that abortion is still considered a taboo topic makes matters worse, even though 1 in 4 women will an abortion by age 45. It is only gradually since the landmark Roe v. Wade ruling over 40 years ago that women have spoken about their reproductive hardships. It is past time we read, watch, and listen to the stories of these women.

With immense amount of coverage about the future of the Supreme Court, reading about Roe v. Wade is a great place to start to get more information about what’s at stake (IE Generation Roe: Inside the Future of the Pro-Choice Movement Book by Sarah Erdreich). Documentaries from recent years help viewers understand the adversities clinics face when they provide abortion (IE Trapped, 12th & Delaware). Books and movies with first-hand accounts from women expressing their story is key to understanding the fight for reproductive justice (IE Abortion: Stories We Tell). Now It’s Your Turn. Our features, ways to give & current events

When you volunteer for this committee you can expect to join a welcoming community of women passionate about ensuring reproductive justice for every woman in Minnesota. We engage with our local, state and national partners to promote their efforts through Women’s March MN social media and newsletter platforms.

We meet online monthly and twice yearly in-person. We plan on holding an annual event to engage with the community, as part of the committee you will help us determine what this is and assist with planning. You can expect to spend 2-3 hours per month, including the monthly check-in call, helping with our social media and newsletter communications, event planning and/or volunteering with our partners. This flexibility allows us to also adjust to our ever changing political climate, i.e. SCOTUS, so we can act fast and provide Women’s March MN followers with the latest information on how to act.

Continued learning is also important to who we are. So we encourage all committee members to post and share any and all reputable resources you find with the group. Through this learning we can continue to grow our knowledge and be a trusted source for our followers. “The decision whether or not to bear a child is central to a woman’s life, to her well-being and dignity. It is a decision she must make for herself. When Government controls that decision for her, she is being treated as less than a fully adult human responsible for her own choices.” Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Supreme Court Justice. Come be a part of our team by e-mailing us here. #ReproductiveJustice
